Guest guest
Hi, Everyone.....T & K.....I have said it before about Gareth having MBL deficiency. He is missing one of the three components the body needs to fight bacterial infections. A simple blood work would tell if or DJ have something similar. Like your kids, he can be very sick and no fever because his body doesn't know to fight off bacterial infections. When he does get to 98 or 100, he is very sickly. The dx sure does come in handy in the ER.....just whip off those 3 letters and say he can't fight off bacterial infections......everyone listens!!! ....I know it's a hard pill to swallow when getting the *official A* dx - I cried all the way home even though I knew it before getting it in writing. Good news, though, is if you choose to make that 's official dx, which I would strongly recommend, then you should qualify for more services from MH/MR and school.. Autism will be the setback throughout her life......not the DS. Even to this day, if someone looks at Gareth *funny* because of something he said or tried to say or do, I tell them he's autistic. He's gotten a waiver through the autism system.....nothing from having DS. Take care, Everyone. Margaret
