Guest guest
Many many years ago when I was young & spy-er, I enrolled the little prince in things like t-ball, baseball & swimming lessons... At that point in his life this proved to be eventful. As in causing both parents to age rapidly & consider taking drugs. So, " we " finally learned & stopped. About the same time, I also stopped taking the little prince to the grocery or to get haircuts or etc.. Something magical happened (gradually) from around 5th grade to 9th grade. *The little prince ate a McNugget (1st meat ever-yuck)! *He stopped trying to RUN in front of cars in the parking lot! (ahem-still needs watchful eyeball/hand not to walk in front of one) *He entered someone else's house without freaking out! *Ditto places to eat! *Then he actually extended the time he would stay inside the strange place! *When high school started (last year) he started sleeping through the night for the 1st time ever!! *He almost completely stopped " dangling " Woody AND accepted that Woody could not go " _______ " . *He invented an invisible Daffy Duck to go wherever Woody could not go.. *He now is not freaking out and/or acting like he is being murdered when he gets haircut. *He " allowed " shaving & now does it by himself with me only doing what was missed. (Ahem, we won't talk about him trying to shave his back or chest in this post) *Etc, etc- for another time... So, tommorrow is a new big day. I signed him up for special needs athletic association basketball. The coach called & wants to see what he can do since he has never played before. So he knows which type of team to put DJ on. So tommorrow we meet. I've been prepping DJ past couple of days-talking about it & Space Jam ( Jorden is a hero) & High School Musical. Still, I wasn't sure until bedtime if he " got it " or if he was really ok about it. I did find it very odd that he got his meds out & indicated to me that he wanted to go to bed (early!). It wasn't until I tucked him in that I realized why & that he had been " prepping " himself. The first clue was the basketballs (of diff sizes) that I spotted scattered in his room & mine. And the movie he picked out to go to sleep by was " Space Jam " ... Wish us luck-no send good energies to the little dude. Seems he is trying to have a very brave heart lately. I so hope it works out for him tommorrow! Kris
