Maximizing Capabilities *FREE SPECIAL NEEDS CONFERENCE FOR AREA FAMILIES* Parents, educators and caregivers of children with special needs are invited to attend *Maximizing Capabilities: A Pediatric Special Needs Conference *on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit in Enola. The event is free to attend, and ample handicapped parking is available. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with providers of special needs resources to gain information, ask questions and test and purchase equipment and other products. Children are also welcome to attend, and exhibitors have been asked to provide children’s activities or giveaways. Products and servicesrepresented at this event include financial and planning advice, medical assistance programs, home care services and equipment, speech andph ysical therapies, summer camps and more. The list of exhibitors to-date follows this release. New this year, educational sessions will take place throughout the day in rooms near the exhibit area. Sessions will be presented by local experts in the areas of autism, epilepsy, planning and financing care, social security, support for siblings, premature deliveries and more. At 3:00 p.m., Pennsylvania State Senator H. Vance will speak. All educational sessions will be open-door for attendees to come and go as necessary.
