Guest guest
Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well! Life is going....well, I'll just say its going. HA-HA A while ago I asked all of you your opinion on whether or not I should work as a traveling physical therapist once I graduated or settle into one spot so that I didn't have to move every 13 weeks or so.... I originally decided that I was going to take a job with the traveling company because they had an opening in the city of Portland, OR. So I made a phone call to make sure that their insurance would cover my one medication that would cost me at least $1000/mo without insurance(Enbrel)......they didn't cover it. So I decided on taking a job in Albuquerque. So, I found an apartment to rent only a mile from where I'd be working. It's a one bedroom cottage. They allow dogs (I have 2 mutts that are bigger than most apartments will allow - 50 pounds). It has a small fenced in back yard so I wouldn't have to walk them 5 times a day (ugh). I overnighted them my deposit. I get a phone call the next day saying that it needs to be a certified check or money order. So I overnight that to them along with the lease. I didn't hear from them so I decided to call them yesterday since I was planning on hitting the road today and I wanted to make sure that I'd be able to move in on Saturday. They rented my apartment. Apparently I didn't sign one of the pages so they figured I didn't want to live there. Does that make any sense to you - because it doesn't to me. Why would I go to the trouble of getting a money order, print up the lease and overnight ($14.00) the stuff to them if I didn't want the apartment? Anyway - without so much as a phone call, they rented the apartment I was supposed to move into with my dogs on Saturday. So now I am back to the beginning of trying to find somewhere to live so that I can start working on the 3rd of October.......UUUUGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! So now the plan is to make it to Albuquerque on Sun, put my dogs in the kennel and stay with a friend of mine until I find somewhere to live....... Hopefully it will only take a day or so - because I feel really bad putting my dogs in a kennel after a stressful drive across the country and all of the upheaval - my one dog is very sensitive and will be so stressed out!!!! Well, I need to get back to apartment hunting from 2000 miles away. I will be away from my computer for a while and I have not been too good at reading the posts lately. I hope everyone is doing well! McK nlmck1551@... *
Guest guest
: I am so sorry to hear about what you're having to deal with right now. Please tell me that they did not cash your cheque and that they returned all the money you'd forwarded for a deposit. I hope you weren't ripped off in anyway. The whole deal sounds kind of shady to me. When you get settled in your new city, see if there is some sort of Landlord/Tenant Advisory Board that you can report them to. It would save someone else the trouble of having that happen to them as well. Not only that, sometimes they can fine or make the Landlord pay you for the inconvenience or extra expenses you've incurred (kennel, overnight delivery, etc.). Make sure to get as much rest as you can right now. Take care of yourself and listen to your body. For most of us, stress can cause a major flare. I hope and pray that you are able to move with no other problems. Your dogs will do fine, they are able to adapt quite well. Once you're settled, everything will be alright. Take care of youself and please post and let us know how things work out for you in the long run. Best of luck, > Hi all! Guest guest
Dear , I'm sorry to hear of the misfortune with your apartment. I do think, however, that you'll like Albuquerque. I lived in New Mexico from 6th grade through college and I went to school at UNM there. The Sandia Moutains are a beautiful sight, Santa Fe is nearby and very interesting. New Mexico has many wonderful things. I think it deserves its nickname " Land of Enchantment. " My two favorite places in New Mexico are White Sands National Monument (kind of like playing in the snow in summer--stark white sand as far as the eye can see) and Carlsbad Caverns (absolutely awe-inspiring unless you're claustrophobic.). I wish I still knew people there and could hook you up, but it's been 25 years since I got married and moved away. I'll be looking forward to hearing about any adventures you have there--there are plenty to be had in New Mexico. laura " McKinnon, L. " <nmckinno@...> wrote: Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well!
