On the topic of stop, drop, & flop. 's therapist came up with something that

worked for us and does not stop, drop, & flop but very seldom anymore. We

got a gait belt like therapist use for elderly people to hold onto the elderly

people when they walk. The therapist would put the gait belt on when she

was working with him. When did his famous stop, drop, & flop the therapist

said do not say anything in the moment of the flop, stating that when gets

angry and does not want to comply let him sit. Next put his knees together, feet

together and pull him up to a stand redirecting him with praise for standing up

even though did not get up without help.I got to the point that if

dropped I did not even need the gait belt because I would just let him sit and

then position his feet together and have give me his hands. I would go to

pull up but would just stand up without any trouble. Where ever we

were I verbally praised for standing. used to slither out of bed and

drop to the floor before school in the mornings but he no longer does that

because I also used the gait belt in the mornings. We fastened the gait belt

right up under his underarm and pull him up that way. I hope this is helpful to

you. Cyndi B
