Bus Issue

I have my sons IEP tomorrow and need some other peoples opinions on how to

approach a situation. My son has DS and Autism and has a couple toys he is

attached to that he brings on the bus and puts away once he gets to school.

Apparently now there is a problem about the toys he brings with for the bus ride

as they are a distraction to the driver. He gets so over stimulated that these

toys help him for the ride. They are not large or loud.

A couple months ago, the bus driver told my babysitter that put my son on the

bus that when my son screams out, he's non-verbal, it is also a distraction and

if it doesn't stop, he'll have to find other transportation.

I called the principal once I heard this and she was upset and took care of it.

Now, we have the current issue regarding the toys and I called the new principal

who has been at the school for 2 weeks and her argument was that well if she let

my son bring a toy, then every child would want to. He's a special bus and maybe

rides with 1 or 2 kids. I tried to explain to her how Autism works and didn't

get really far with her. I'm sure I'm missing important points, but I'm so mad

right now and want to be prepared when I go for his IEP tomorrow.
