Guest guest
I put on the potty last night before shower time. He hopped off having done nothing, and tried to get into the shower. I said " no " and hauled him back on the potty--this time he peed and pooped!!! We cheered, cleaned him up and put him in the shower. Where he proceeded to poop some more! There was a miscommunication at school and they haven't sent home with a pullup under his undies. He's been dry anyway. He had one wet accident, but it was very small; I only realized because the teeny wet spot showed up very well on his light grey sweats. He stopped it once he realized what was happening. Unfortunately, he didn't then rush for the bathroom...I had to notice and take him. They're doing " first....and then " at school and he's understanding that " first we go potty and THEN we go bye-bye/outside " . His teacher called yesterday to tell me that is using the " yes " and " no " PECS. His aide is truly gifted. She has taught him so much this year!! I mentioned to his teacher how , who used to climb up on top of the fridge to get cookies, will now stand and gesture up on the counter for his PECS book even when the cookies are easily in his reach. Apparently, his aide has somehow taught him that we can't have it unless we ask for it. I do not know how she did this. It's not like I didn't try! She is like an Annie Sullivan for . I am so grateful that she's unlocking communication for him! He's beginning to use words I thought he'd lost. And he's signing, too. The day he had his little accident, DH put new underwear on him but no pants. He then told our oldest to get ready for scouts. raced upstairs, got his pants on, came to the table and ate, put his crocs on and was waiting by the door. Unfortunately, 's scouts meetings are very late and can't go, but how cool that he understood that Daddy was going somewhere and got himself ready! My 6-year-old can't even do that. In other news, is also snipping paper with scissors, independently. Of course, he's also still trying to escape the back yard. He still loves to walk around with one sock on. He throws our bathroom hand towels into the trash after every use. He tosses his beloved leapster down the cat door to the basement and is as a result now screaming because it doesn't work any more. He tosses silverware into the trash, and is OCD about doors and his clothing. He's still hard to read books to (but better after his melatonin, before falling asleep). He doesn't like video's yet because he doesn't have the attention span for them. Or TV shows. Though he likes dancing to tge Wiggles. He still tosses what he doesn't want. When he's eating goldfish crackers, the broken ones are thrown on the floor. He climbs on his brother and wrestles with him and he picks up dog toys with his teeth. He still runs away from us if something interests him, and doesn't look to us or let us know that he wants to see something. The progress is fabulous but there's still a lot to do! I wish we could keep this aide... Sent fro my iPhone
