Guest guest
I certainly do not want to instigate any more controversy on this list, however I hope all of you who are interested in this saga re: Dr. Wakefield which has been going on for over a decade will be openminded enough to familiarize yourselves with the *whole* story...both sides. The TACA website and The Age of Autism websites are sources you can check for for the pro-Wakefield viewpoint. Please pay particular attention to those who are most involved in denigrating this man and to their financial involvements with the vaccine industry. I'm not arguing pro or con here....just hoping you will investigate thoroughly. The vaccine issue aside I, along with many other moms, will forever be indebted to Dr. Wakefield's stance on insisting on investigating a GI connection to Autism. Guest guest
Sherry - as usual you bring the 'nut' of an issue to the forefront,. This man has given a lot to his theory and his science. Whether a person agrees or disagrees, he certainly used the conservative medical approach as a scientific person to reach his conclusion. Friend in the UK are protesting this action as we speak. > > > I certainly do not want to instigate any more controversy on this list, > however I hope all of you who are interested in this saga re: Dr. Wakefield > which has been going on for over a decade will be openminded enough to > familiarize yourselves with the *whole* story...both sides. Guest guest
When we took Isaac back to the doctor because he did not get the right amount of antibiotics the first time (grrr) the doctor was chatting with me while we waited for his strep test. She said she doesn't believe in some of the vaccinations. She didn't say all and she didn't elaborate. I didn't twenty question her, I just thought it was interesting. Again, not be to controversial but to be open as a parent to fully understanding what is best for my children. Guest guest
It's definitely a personal choice. But this man made a world go into a panic over getting their children vaccinated. He conducted his research in a back handed fashion and shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. Regardless of feelings towards vaccinations, just looking at how he bribed children at his son's birthday party to get them to give him blood samples is enough to anger me. > When we took Isaac back to the doctor because he did not get the right > amount of antibiotics the first time (grrr) the doctor was chatting > with me > while we waited for his strep test. He never said kids should not be vaccinated. He's advocated changing the schedule of vaccines. He has his own version, as do others of the infamous birthday party scenario. So much of this is just gross exaggeration by the opposition. It really is something that needs to be studied from both sides before encouraging more inflammatory discussion. It all depends on where and by whom you read these accounts. I don't think he's as wonderful as many of his supporters think he is, nor do I think he's the demonic quack his detractors do. Sherry again and always....just MY opinion
Guest guest
It's true, we'll never know how it really all happened as we weren't there. And you're right, I do agree people need to look at the whole picture. Being a new mum, just the idea of of using children in such a way gets my blood boiling, and it definitely is important to look at all sides of a picture. xx Jen > > > >>>It's definitely a personal choice. Guest guest
I am not into his radical to me thinking. I am much more middle of the road. I believe that vaccines given in group cause overload of a person's immune system anad this leads to the possibility of autoimmune problem later on. Fuither, I am not sure that Pertussis should be given to people with brain injuries - much more of this is made in Europe than here, but Elie has never todate had Pertusis and he got most of his other immunizations singelly. But he has gotten all the rest that are recommended. My daughter- who works with ASD kids almost exclusively doesn't agree with me. But then when do daughters ever agree with mothers. > > > Hi Sara, > he also has a book coming out tomorrow I believe which can be ordered from > Amazon and which details the entire journey thus far...from his perspective. > Sherry > > > Sherry - as usual you bring the 'nut' of an issue to the forefront,.
