Hi Everyone,

I am so thankful for this group, as its members understand only too well both

the joys and struggles of raising a child with autism and Down syndrome. I

continue to learn so much from everyone and appreciate the many posts of how to

make both our kids (and often our own) lives better.

I have been struggling lately myself in this daily journey with . He is in

a toddler/defiant stage and has been whiny/non-compliant about most things

lately. I find that I'm not as patient and am relieved when goes to

school. Do others feel that way too?

Endurance/fatigue is part of my problem, recently coming off of cancer

treatment, and my husband has been unemployed for almost 19 months. You can

imagine that we get on each others nerves at times! Although things will

ultimately work out for the best, I have asked God on more than one occasion

why 's challenges, cancer and unemployment all at one time? I know many on

the list-serve face multiple challenges as well, which is why I feel comfortable

sharing.

I really appreciated the recent discussion regarding Moms working outside of

the home and the difficulties for many of us to find work and a flexible

employer based on our kid's medical, therapy and school appts. When I add my own

medical appts. into the mix, it makes it too difficult at this time to pursue

even a part-time job. I hope I can in the future for both the financial and

mental benefits.

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and thank you for

listening to

me vent...I do pray for our list-serve everyday for all of us to continue to

fight the good fight for our children, but not to forget our own needs in the

process. March on, brave soldiers!

Best,

Mom to , 6.5 yrs. old, DS/PDD-NOS
