Guest guest
What has happened to this group? Where did everyone go? Is it a special end of the school year time when everyone goes underground? 1200 members and so little activity lately. Well...can anyone tell me more about OCD. And is it even worth getting a diagnosis of OCD....would that allow for more medicine trials? Is there even a med that actually helps OCD? I can't picture doing cognitive talk therapy as is recommended as an adjunct to meds if we really want to see improvement. From my reading I'm seeing that there are 2 types of " OCD " in Autism at least. One being the repetitive behaviors our kids like to engage in that result in a soothing or positive outcome, this not being a separate dx from the autism. The other being mediated by a negative fear or anxiety that something horrible will happen if I don't leave this CD exactly 1/4 " away from the edge of the table etc. Is this your understanding of OCD as well? Our CBA was here yesterday for a 5 hour marathon session and we worked on transitioning which has become increasingly difficult for . She thought we should see a pro (neurologist or psych I guess) for a real diagnosis but she thought had definitely moved into the OCD/anxiety/fearful area as opposed to the simple stimming, repetitive stuff that is annoying certainly, but not actual OCD. Can any of you share with me your experiences with this topic? Have any of you tried any meds that actually worked? Any treatments? Anything???? Anyone?
