Guest guest
Dear Lori and Sara, sorry to contradict you Lori but the ITouch is 8 GIGAbytes and the Proloquo2go is about 250 MB so there is plenty of room on the least espensive ITouch for P2Go. Please don't even ask me what MB stands for (other than Beth our moderator) lol......I only know when we first researched buying an ITouch I learned the 8 was plenty big enough. Of course that didn't stop me from buying the 16 " just to be sure " . If you're going to add lots of movies and music you may need the 16 Sara. Lori...you're so right these things are amazing! Sara, we got the IMaingo speaker case for the ITouch as needs more volume than we get from the ITouch; there is a speaker on it like Lori said but for little Miss " I need the volume cranked to the max " we needed more....Lori, do you find the volume on the ITouch itself loud enough to be heard by someone else if the child is trying to have a conversation? Most reviews and comments from teachers and parents I've read thought it was too soft for a classroom setting anyway. Sherry Hi Sara: The Proloque2go is 222 MG. I don't think the 8 MG is enough. Have you thought of or seen Tap2Talk? I am more impressed with it because I think the Prologue2go has too many bells and whistles for our kids. I downloaded Tap2Talk. Tony won't use it, looks at me like I'm crazy because he prefers his own method of communication. He can talk but he is a very effective pointer as well. For example, he will point at me, then himself, then the freezer and it is hard to miss that he thinks we should both have ice cream. However, I think Tap2Talk is worth continuing with. Tap2Talk is free for the very basic app and then you pay $99 a year to develop your own communication library. I haven't had time to really explore it but this is the one that has my attention. The battery lasts two or three days depending on how many other apps you use. But it only takes 45 minutes to recharge. Did you mean microphone or speaker. The iTouch comes with a little external speaker (built into the iTouch) and it sounds really good -or so I think. The iPods are quite amazing. How did are kids live without them? Oh, and we have the rebuilt 8 MG iTouch for $149 and it has worked great. It comes with a one year warrenty. We did have to replace a nano and apple did it for free so the warrenty is good. Guest guest
Sherry: I knew my math was off regarding how much room there was on an iTouch with 8 whatevers but that's just it. I am at work and couldn't remember what the 8 stood for! Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that if there were going to be movies on it they might need more room. We do not allow movies to be downloaded to the iTouch in our house. Just game apps - engage, engage, engage is our motto. Tony has yet to use the iTouch for formal communication but certainly one on one ours iTouch is loud enough. I know I am always saying, " turn it down! " And his teacher for 4th quarter said that was what she always said as well. Have you donwloaded the free " Puff the Magic Dragon " app? That one gets really loud. What's amazing to me is that we recently had to replace a nano and went to the apple store to do so. You go in twice, once to order and once to pick-up (to get the recylcing discount). Tony was such a wild tiger, literally the first time that the second time I foreshadowed, brought the iTouch and really worked with him on what was expected. He might be an iTouch junkie but once again in the Apple store he was totally a wild tiger. I guess just the sight of an iPad through him into sensory load. Guest guest
One of our sons gave us a 8 Gigabytes OLD i-touch as he is two newer past that, so sthis cost us nothing to try. I will try looking at the free app first to try. I will need the speaker case for ELie as he is like with the sLOUD on. Plus he has 30% hearing loss!!! I will see what happens as I learn how to use it this week. > > > Dear Lori and Sara, > sorry to contradict you Lori but the ITouch is 8 GIGAbytes and the > Proloquo2go is about 250 MB so there is plenty of room on the least > espensive ITouch for P2Go. Guest guest
Sara..... I can't remember exactly but there was some discussion about using the " first generation " IPod which may be what you have. We bought a " second generation " . I asked my husband but he can't remember either.....I'll look later to see if there's some contrindication to loading P2Go into the oldest model. http://forum.assistiveware.com/search.php?sid=77eb48dae2d1b1bbe095a6b38bf961f5 Here's the forum site.....I notice someone says the 1st generation IPods don't have speakers. Hmmmmmm. Does yours have a speaker? Sherry One of our sons gave us a 8 Gigabytes OLD i-touch as he is two newer past that, so sthis cost us nothing to try. Guest guest
Sorry - hit te wrong key - ....inadequate but that there is a case with speakers I can get. Will try to turn the thing on, learn how to use it, download the free app for it, and then worry about all the rest. So much learning, so little time, and such a small brain. I am getting too old for all this technospeak. > Don't knoww - but son said that I would need speakers which says if there > is one he found it inadeq > > > > >> >> >> Sara..... >> I can't remember exactly but there was some discussion about using the >> " first generation " IPod which may be what you have. Guest guest
I told dh about the lack of speaker in 1st generation and he said it wouldn't matter if you get the IMaingo case with speaker like we have. Apparently the speakers plug into the headphone receptor so it would work ok even w/o it's own speaker. Here's the speaker we decided on. If you get with carol over on FB she's become the expert...Miss " I can build my own computer out of toilet paper " . She's amazing. If you go back to the earliest posts on the forum they deal with our simple technochallenged questions.....Now they're all about the latest greatest IPad, IPoop, IWhatever. I'm sorry I'm having trouble retaining alot of what I learned but to be honest... is now doing so well vocalizing I've been concentrating on that and let the IStuff go by the wayside for a bit. http://www.amazon.com/iMainGo-Handheld-Speaker-iPhone-Black/dp/B001DJJO2W Sorry - hit te wrong key - ....inadequate but that there is a case with speakers I can get.
