Guest guest
, I have forgotten how old is(?). But HIS desire to be done with pullups is HUGE! Congrats!! I wonder if the school could put his de-rotation straps on? That way he could get used to the bus ride, go potty & then have the straps put on? Reason I ask is that potty training went sonic fast once the teachers convinced me to let DJ ride the bus in just underwear. And I mean fast. He never had an accident on the bus & it was a long ride. The poop in the shower thing is not one I have had to deal with personally at home. When I was doing Lovaas with an ASD child (in his home)he had a similar problem. In his case it was an adversion to using the toilet (for pooping). You can use your imagination about what that meant-lets just say he did not confine his pooping to the shower... Anyway, this can be overcome. Does sit on the toilet to tinkle or stand? Does he always poop when he takes a shower? What about when he takes a bath? At what point does this happen-immediately-halfway-at the end of the shower? Take a few days to observe at what point this happens and even what time. This may give you a baseline to work with. Example: If poops EVERY day in the shower between 7:00-7:16 then you have a timeframe. Observe if this happens during a certain bathing activity such as hair washing. Again keep a baseline for a few days. Based on what you have jotted down, you will see if there is a trend or another commonality. IF there is, you have something definitive to work with. Example: If at every shower, poops between 7:00-7:16 no matter what the activity, then you know that this is his pooping time. Put him on the toilet for that time frame. If he only poops at that time and when his hair is being washed, eliminate one by say washing his hair first. If he still poops only between 7:00-7:16 then you know it has nothing to do with hair washing. Conversely, if he fails to poop between that timeframe but instead poops only when you wash his hair, then you know it is the hair washing that has triggered the pooping. I used hypothetical examples. I hope this made sense. The goal is for you to find out why he is pooping in the shower & work from there. My first gut reaction was that he is relaxed & it is just his pooping time. But then I realized that I have no idea if you all consistently give showers at a certain time & whether something else is triggering it. Thus the need for a baseline. His new found interest in wearing big boy undies is a plus. I have some other ideas after you do the baseline and/or you provide a bit more info:) At least he's in the vicinity of a toilet, lol. Kris > > Hi, > > is beginning to wear underwear. It is the single most exciting thing in his life right now! He wants to be done with pull-ups forever! We still put the pull-ups on under his underwear for the bus and school...he wears de-rotation straps around his legs which take a long time to take off for the potty. However, the straps come off at naptime and then his pullup comes off after his nap and stays off until bus time. He's so proud of himself! This afternoon, he went upstairs as soon as I took his shoes off (for all you moms of shoe-dini's, chuck taylors are the first shoes to ever stay on 's feet without sure steps! They're like magic!!!) and took off his pants and somehow got the evil pullup off, too. I had no clue he was just in underwear until much later, when I realized that I'd forgotten to put him on the potty when he got home. Ooops! He stayed dry, though. > > Unfortunately, he poops in the shower (gross!). Anyone else deal with this, and what did you do to make it stop??? > > > > > Sent from my iPhone >
