Guest guest
Hi just thought I would check in to let you all know I have been home for one month now and been able to keep my RA under control with diet and no medication. Its a big change in the way I was use to eating but its getting easier. and to be pain free I keep asking my husband do you know how good it feels to feel good. He has been so good and understanding through all this. I would have never made it through what I call my living hell without him when I couldn't walk he was there to lean on. when I couldn't lift the blanket to cover myself in bed he pulled the blankets over me he just knew without me having to ask and that meant so much. We have been married 39 years Im 64 and he is 61 I must have raised him right LOL. I have a friend that has RA as well but is not willing to give up certain foods to feel better she is on several different medications but says she always has a degree of pain daily. I was telling her how I ate affeer being asked and her remark was ow my I cannot imagine never having biscuit and gravy again no I could not do that. let me get off my soap box I guess I just want everyone to know there is a way to be pain free without all the dangerous medications. Blessings and Love to All
Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the list. I've been diagnosed *maybe* RA (seronegative). I'd love to hear more about your diet, if you don't mind sharing. Guest guest
HI sorry it took so long to return your email the diet you have to follow is a plant base diet its steamed veg. fresh salads and fresh fruit, beans grains, sweet potatoes baked. brown rice its totally different from what I was use to eating (fast food junkie) No meat of any kind no dairy of any kind no oil no salt no processed food of any kind drink only distilled water or fresh squeezed juice no coffee no soda I learned to use fresh or dried herbs to flavor with. No night shade veg.which are white potatoes, bell peppers red, green or yellow no tomatoes. or eggplant. The more raw the better. but as time goes by you can add one thing at a time to your diet wait 3 days if you have no reactions then you can have that like I have been able to add white potatoes, and tomatoes back to my diet. If you like it you can have tofu and soy meat products in moderation have not tried them. The way the center I went to wants you to eat is make a large salad lunch and dinner they say 1 lb. or more of salad daily then a big plate of steam veg. then if you have room your starch also no corn no citrus no butter if interested there were a couple of books they recommend Also just type in vegan recipes in search there are tons of information on the Internet the hard part for me was changing my eating but belive me it was worth it. and the dr. also said that in time I might even beable to have meat a couple times a week but first you need to get Ra under control. I still have some stiffness in my hands sometimes but there a big difference between stiffness and pain and not being able to bend your fingers my fingers would get so swollen I would think they would burst. If you decide to try this way of eating do not quite your med. as time goes by your blood work will improve and your doc. will adjust your med. Also I did a water fast to cleanse my body but they say the diet will still work without doing the water fast just take longer.and they say it will work for everyone you just have to be patient and focus on what you can have and not what you cant have (easier said than done) . Good Luck if you decide to try this also if you have questions I will try to help. Im still learning .It can not hurt you. you are still eating real food just cutting out the things that are hurting you. and you get plenty of protein throgh yor dark green veg. and beans and grains and brown rice.
