Guest guest
Terry, We have a portable DVD player and some Elmo DVD's that we take with us and it really helps. I can say most of the Elmo DVD's verbatim I have heard them so many times. We try and get Geena to sit and eat but the only way we can do it is to bring in her portable player and let her watch it while we all eat. We get tired of it so we only do it on rare occasions. Dad to Age 13, Age 12 and Geena age 9 w/DS Autism and profound hearing loss.
Guest guest
, My whole family knows the Elmo tapes verbatim. We also have a portable dvd player that I take to doctor's visits. I really never thought of bringing it to family get togethers, but that might not work for us because he likes to rewind constantly and can't figure out how to get to the exact spot on the dvd player. It's ok for short periods like office visits. When was little he had to see the cardiologist every year and the nurses had a hard time getting the sonogram. The dr. came in and asked what he liked to watch. At the time it was teletubbies. He put in a tape and put the sound really high. didn't move and the test was done in minutes.
