<<In Dr. s study of folic acid in Down’s syndrome, approximately ten

percent of the children exhibited excessive hyperactivity and/or

irritability when given 20 mg folic acid (50 times the adult RDA). In a recent

version of MSB Plus compounded by Nutrichem Pharmacy (which normally includes 45

mg vitamin B6, 45 mcg B12, 1 mg folic acid, 200 mg serine, 75 mg methionine

and 75 mg cysteine), an increase of folate to 3 mg (7.5 times RDA) and

methionine to 275 mg (approximately the RDA) resulted in a substantial number

of children exhibiting extreme irritability and hyperactivity behaviors. The

symptoms reversed in days with discontinuation of the additional folate

and methionine, but this experience should encourage moderation when

supplementing methyl donors and methylation co-factors.>>

Hi, Everyone.....Minasmom.....I scanned this article and this caught my

eye. I guess if you're giving folic acid supplements, folate, or methionine

and have behavioral issues, then you should discontinue them to see if

behaviors reverse. Any of these supplements should be under a doc's

supervision. I don't do this stuff.....just the basics for Gareth. A Centrum,

flaxseed, and acidophilus is all I give him.

<<I don't want to have to go back to the DAN! doc that I saw as she was

very cold and is very far away.>>

Then, don't go back. You don't need this in your life. Stress isn't good

for you. Stick with Mina's PCP. Who ordered this blood work.....the DAN

doc or Mina's PCP? Every lab is different but most comply with basic

standards. I don't know about dan laboratories. Here's a couple of sites for

blood work/numbers: _http://www.flash-med.com/LabNormal.asp_

bun 22 ---- normal 10-20 --- tad high

creatinine 0.7 (high) ---- normal less than 1.5 ---- seems normal

ibct (calc) 406.0 (high) ----- 9 - 10.5 ---- not sure about this one

retic count 2.0 (high) -----

ferritin 18.7 (low) ---- 10 - 200 ---- low but within normal

tsh 4.32 (number circled by doc) ---- .35 - 5.0 --- within normal

free t4 1.36 (within " normal " ) ---- 0.7 - 1.7 ---- within normal

free t3 4.9 (high) --- 2.6 - 4.4 ---- slightly high

I am not a doc......I would take your concerns and her test results to her

PCP

Liz.........you slept in?!?!? How dare you catch up on sleep on a

Saturday!!!

Take care, Everyone.
