<< His classroom teacher is an autism specialist, and while she does cover

some academics, she focuses a lot more on school behavior, social skills,

learning and following routines, etc...........She has a nice room for

sensory needs--for every half-hour they spend sitting, they get 20 minutes of

trampoline or scooter races, obstacle courses, wrestling with the aides,

etc.>>

Hi, Everyone........sounds like a good setup to me, especially if many

of the kids get integrated into regular classes. Autism support classes

never came along for Gareth till he was in HS and, by then, he was doing well

in Resource room settings.

Hi Joan....nice to hear from you!!! Hope you're doing OK..

Take care, Everyone.

Thanks Margaret!

I " ve been in my cave, and sort of like it there! There's so much to catch up on

- Andy turns 21 this month - a lot of life went on while I was otherwise

occupied.

The next few months will likely be rough ones. Bill Cohen, whom I just mentioned

in a post, died this time last year while I was in Boise for the Special

Olympics World Games. I will not forget the email and how it felt like I'd been

physically hit in the gut. Such a wonderful man, and so dedicated to our

families and people with Down syndrome around the world.

And then shortly after that Mom went into hospice.

But on the positive side, we're all finding a balance to things. Andy's stopped

looking all over his Pa's house for his Baba, which is a big help. It was gut

wrenching to watch and try to explain. We made him about 15 beautiful coffee

table books with this printer of her to help with the transition.

Now I am focused on life after school (especially now that our ballot measures

passed and the medicaid waivers for community supports will not be cut) and

building up my business again. Need to pay the bills!

How is Gareth these days? YOu've really had a hard year.
