Hi ,

I noticed that your E-mail address says ilovecats......do you have cats...I

too, love cats and have a feral cat community in my backyard. If you would

like to share cat stories, please feel free to E-mail me personally....also

anyone else. We are currently taking care of the cat we call the " Old

Soldier " he has really been abused ( he is not neutered. so he was probably in

the

wrong place at the wrong time according to any owner of female cats) AND he

is all black.....there are lots of black kittens in our neighborhood. Anyway,

he moves like we do ....stiff and slow starting, and then pretty rough. He

is missing one ear, and has nervously chewed the furr from one of his legs.

He really has a huge frame but we could count every bone in his body when he

showed up for dinner at our house. He is slowly becoming more trusting, and

almost pet-able. BUT everytime I see him walk, it makes me commiserate with

this poor creature who has no idea why he hurts. He is getting a little

chubby, and his fur is growing back real shiny, the little boy kittens follow

him

around the yard, and he just looks bored (but healthy). He is on the list

to get tame enough to get to the vet for fixing, but it takes along time. It

is just nice to see him sit out in the sun in the AM and know he is better,

he almost smiles. It is hard with this cast to get out there, I have a young

man who is developmentally disabled who helps me with the feeding, etc. I

miss them, but it truly is a win / win situation. Sorry I went on so long, but

they are fascinating to me.

Please take carel

Hi Carol,

I love cats too! We have one 17-year old neutered male, Micque

(pronounced " Mickey " ) who is mostly white with black ears, nose, and

tail, and a couple of black blotches on his rump. He is a Maine

Coon, long lush white fur, and " slippers " on his feet, with a big

bushy tail. He doesn't know he's 17, except now that he uses " steps "

to get up on the couch. He fell off a table last year, and I think

he injured his back, as he yelps if you apply any pressure to his

back when he's standing. I can gently run my fingers over it without

hurting him, and when he's lying down, I can brush him and he doesn't

flinch. I hate to take him to the vet when everything else seems

ok. He only weighs about 8 lbs., and always has.

How is your neon pink cast coming, and the leg inside it? When I

broke my ankle 2 years ago, the cast separated at the bottom, and the

doc was not happy that he had to replace it, but it wasn't my fault.

I hope you're healing well.

Looks like we've got a pop-up rain coming, so I'd better go check

windows. Hope you're having a good weekend!

Hi Judy,

This has been a rough week. I don't even remember if I have posted this or

not, so if it is a repeat, please forgive me. My husband had surgery on

Wednesday for an incisional hernia. Last year he had a kidney removed (the old

fashioned way) and the incision herniated, it looked like he was carrying a

bag of baking potatoes and they were lumping out on the side. Surgery went

well, but pretty tough when I can't drive, so I just stayed at the hospital

with

him until closing each day. He came home on Friday. He had a bad

experience at another hospital last year when he had his kidney removal

surgery, they

were moving him from ICU after his surgery and the nurse said they were going

to " Pull the Plug " . He had no phone, I was gone and actually had too much

anesthesia to ask or reason what was going on! He thought he was dying. So

this week I needed to be at his side to insure this same thing did not happen

again - it did not - but long days in the wheel chair. I am currently taking

" microwave - electrical " therapy to stimulate bone growth. BUT besides

being the cutest Ortho Dr. I have ever seen, they remove and change my cast

every

2 weeks. SO they also allow you to " clean " your leg & foot. Sure

eliminates the itching. Sorry I rambled, it has been a week and I now have a

cold.

I will write more about my little cat house- it really is interesting to see

how each has a job and interacts with each other. I am just glad that they

will now come to me while I am in a wheel chair, at first they all ran!

Please take care and be very careful,
