Guest guest
~ You are not alone! I have a 15 year old son with DS/ASD, and live in the Chicago suburbs. Support and resources are available, we just need to get you connected to them. Are you a member of NADS -the National Association for Down Syndrome (a Chicago based parent group)? They are a great resource and have a Family Behavior Retreat each spring for families whose children have a dual diagnosis. There are programs that can help his school, services that can be requested of the school, and Children's Home Based services for those that can prove they are in crisis. When he turns 12, he will be eligible to be seen at the Adult Down Syndrome Center of Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge which provides medical care, psychosocial services as well as advocacy (I am the Patient Advocate). I have navigated all of these services, and would be happy to help you do the same. You can email me or call me at work at . Let's restore your hope!
