Thanks Jayne - I want to pass along the one thing anyone ever said to me that

helped before Darwyn's heart surgeries. A nurse I knew said rather matter-

of-factly. " Oh the heart surgeries these days are so well done. Just get it over

with and for 3 weeks it'll be tough and then you can get on with life and forget

about it " . I found this so reassuring as my mind tends to wander down the darker

paths at times and I was really hope this advice would be useful to you also. I

had terrible anxiety nightmares before Darwyn's 3rd surgery and really did not

think he was strong enough to live thru it, but our kids are strong and it seems

that in the medical world hearts are very fixable. Darwyn was back to watching

his DVDs 8 hours after surgery! Definitely pack the DVD's for immediate post

surgery as will bounce back quicker than you can imagine. And you might

be home again in 7- 10 days!

have 1000's of unread digests! I'm overwhelmed by the number of posts and just

can't keep up. However, I joined THIS group because I am Canadian and the only

Canadian group I have found has only 30 or so members!

in Ontario currently, but we are considering a move back to my home province of

BC, and we are wondering what sorts of services are available for a 9 yr old

with dual dx ds-asd.
