Guest guest
Hi, Everyone....Kris.....I have always said to make sure the academics are stressed for all of our kids because of their 'scattered skills' ability. Gareth came home in 6th grade and proceeded to show me stuff on the computer that I had no clue how to do!!! He also took a class at school that taught him to make cards and would come home daily with the prettiest cards for Mom. Like I have said before, he could read a sentence before he has the ability to talk the sentence without seeing the words. Oh, yeah....I still wipe his butt, too!!! Theresa....Gareth never learned to ride a bike, either. Fear kept him from riding on his own but he did really well on a tandem bike with his Dad. Is that a possibility for ? Gareth also had a built in GPS system for traveling. Carla....I will keep you and in my daily prayers. I hope everything continues to go well. Kris....Gareth learned to tie his shoes in 3rd grade --- OT taught him. BUT.....he doesn't have the strength in his fingers to pull the laces tight enough so they come undone within minutes of walking and I have to do them anyways!!! Alina....so glad to hear about the progress that Gabby (and Mom) have made!!! Unfortunately, they didn't have PECS when Gareth was younger and he was 'talking' after age 10. I do remember that Gareth had a really hard time looking at 'fake' photos of things. Even early on, I realized that a drawn picture of a women didn't register as a real photo of a real lady. Does that make sense? Update....we just got back from a 10 day vacation and Mr G DID NOT have an ER visit to any of the local hospitals in Vegas or AZ!!! At least if he did, it wouldn't have been as bad as the 4 hr trip to the ER in Puerto Rico last May!!! Before that, it was a trip to the ER in Orlando. Headlines in the Phoenix paper yesterday was the number of RSV cases taking over the peds ward. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his big brother, , and seeing all the rugby matches in Vegas last Sat/Sun. He also saw his uncle Al and grandma in Phoenix. Take care, Everyone.
