Guest guest
Greetings ya'll, I started to title this post " A Boy+His Vtech Camera+HSM3 " but in light of Lori's 911 post decided to change it. I am hoping that my post encourages further " stories " because IMHO, all of our kiddos know things/how to do things/etc that we may not know they know. (yikes what a sentence-hope it is conveys what I mean) Sometimes in our daily struggles with " life stuff " we might have the tendency to overlook or just not see or not registar something(s) that are insanely remarkable about our kiddos. Maybe it is something subtle yet still insanely remarkable. Case in point: I posted about a vtech camera that my child received at Xmas. Which he has used constantly & constantly shows us each thing he has filmed to the point that we just go " uh huh-cool " without really looking past the goofy sounds or actions portrayed. Because we are human & a bazillion times a day is brain melting-eyeball bleeding inducing... Today, after hearing thuds in his room, I suggested to DJ that he take his camera outside while it was still sunny & play basketball. He took it & his little cd player & did his thing while I was doing mine. Then he came in & (of course)wanted me to watch the video he had made. So I actually did watch the whole thing. And guys, I was stunned. He had synchronized the HSM3 cd, then synchronized every move he made to the song on the cd. High School Musical 3 has played enough in this house for me to recognize that DJ was making EVERY SINGLE move that Troy does in a basketball scene. And I mean perfectly-from the anguish to the hair toss to the chest thump to the fall to the basketball moves. So I act very excited & praise him on his skills-he then trots back outside & I notice he is not playing basketball. He comes back in & wants me to watch his video again. This time it is the dance moves in a scene from HSM3 that Troy does-again synched to the music on the cd. Verbatim again. I realize that this may not be on par with knowing to call 911 or telling a teacher that they are gonna put a curse on them. But DJ cannot talk (with clarity)which makes it almost impossible to guage what he does " know " about so many things. But. I think he just showed me that I was correct in thinking that he memorizes everything somehow. And I think that all those " re-winds " of videos & CD's & DVD's actually have a purpose besides stimming or driving us crazy. I had an instant memory of when we finally got a tv & vcr & toddler DJ watching Barney over & over. Trying to jump like Barney. Twirling with Barney. And later doing all these moves without a tv on..... Food for thought. Methinks I will indeed watch every video he brings me from now on.
