Guest guest
Hi Everyone Asher's new and exciting pastime is now throwing things (after he licks them of course :-/) How can I address this? He has broken several things including phones and remotes. I think part of the appeal for him is the sound that things make as they hit the floor. I am concerned that the baby (who is on the verge of crawling) is going to be the frequent recipient of bumps and bruises from Asher's constant tossing things. Daddy, Mojo the Kitty and I have all been hit by flying objects. Yikes...it's always something isn't it????? Guest guest
Hi Amy  My daughter Amy has finally just stopped doing this. She broke many things around our house too. I wish I could tell you what we did to get her to stop but I don't know. It just seemed once she started in school she stopped. I too thought it was always a sound thing. We did get her some toys that make sounds when she shakes them and she doesn't throw them????  Good luck. I wish I could give you the secret trick to get him to stop!!  Ali Subject: Throwing Things To: Received: Monday, March 15, 2010, 5:44 PM  Hi Everyone Asher's new and exciting pastime is now throwing things (after he licks them of course :-/) How can I address this? Guest guest
Hi there dear Jay, Thinking of you and praying for you..... I understand the diaper bombs....last night my husband got home from work and found one in Wesley's room .....I had been cooking and Wes went upstairs ad came down with a bare bum...his bum did not look dirty so I did not expect the mess....so my husband was upset while cleaning it and said to me " why don't you train him? " Well that set off another kind of bomb.....he took the question back later... I feel for you truly ...by the way, we are using the halo blankets on Wes....I stopped for 2 weeks and found myself cleaning poo every day and finally my thick skull realized that with the halo blankie he could not remove his clothes and diapers....do you think that is something that you could use for Kez?? Of sourse it does not train the child but saves you a lot of trouble.....i learned about these from this group.... > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: Van Straaten <ali_van_straaten@ ...> > To: @yahoogrou ps.com > Sent: Mon, March 15, 2010 6:35:31 PM > Subject: Re: Throwing Things > >  > Hi Amy >  > My daughter Amy has finally just stopped doing this. >  > Ali > > > > From: Amy <aimbee71yahoo (DOT) com> > Subject: Throwing Things > To: @yahoogrou ps.com > Received: Monday, March 15, 2010, 5:44 PM > >  > > Hi Everyone > Asher's new and exciting pastime is now throwing things (after he licks them of course :-/) How can I address this? Guest guest
Jay, I'm telling you....duct taping the TV and the VCR to the table is the only way to go. Duct tape is cheap. TVs are not. And VCRs are getting too difficult to find. TVs and VCRs may save your sanity and give you a much needed break. I know she threw the TV out the window one time last year (sorry but our behavioral asst still thinks this is hilarious....in a bad way). Do I need to send you a photo of jamie's TV taped to the desk when she was Kez' age? It's lovely really....sort of has an artsy installation feel to it. Here's some hugs {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ Jay }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Sherry Thanks. The school system is different here in Ontario. But this gives me a good idea of where to push in our system. The behavior team we No I don't have an ABA person at home. I'm so broke I can't pay attention. No money for anything at all so whatever I do I need to do alone. Single parenting on part time minimum wage is no picnic. Today I feel terribly frightened and drained. This morning I woke up to a full diaper bomb. Who flung Poo! It the force of the explosion against the wall.... well you get the stinky drift. Spring break here and kids are off school. Thanks for the space to vent. Guest guest
Jay, My son used to do fecal smearing so I know what you go through. I felt at times like I was going to have a mental breakdown. When I was working I had to get up before him take a shower get ready and then get him ready for school. Many mornings I walked into his room with feces smeared into the carpet, all over , furniture etc. I would cry and ask God, Why God? Why? I started putting in pj with the feet cut out because he hated PJ with feet. In the summer I had PJs made to the knees so could not get to his poop. Now he know longers does fecal smearing and I know longer have to use Pjs as described. It will get better. Maybe put a dance unitard on the child if no PJS to keep from spreading feces. I have listed grants to apply for that I have rec'd but I do not know if any of these grant givers with do grants outside of the US. I have rec'd grants from United HealthCare, ACT Today, & TACA. You should try and really pour out your heart. Is there not anyway to get help from your school system there? Guest guest
Sherry,You are so resourceful or have you have been watching MacGyver re-runs. He loved duct tape to. Hey I know whatever works. I bought t shelf brackets and put one on each side of 's TV and drilled them into his dresser. He was about 9 yrs old and they are still holding strong. We would have lost his tv/vcr combo to his large window if I had not done that. also had this fascination with throwing 3 toys at one time. He would sling them across the room. has a small DVD player that I used downstairs in our house. I tought to stop throwing by not letting him have toys, DVD players unless he was good. The moment he would start to throw it I took it away. My son was no longer allowed free access and that helped. He knew he had to be good if he wanted his DVD player. Good luck. Guest guest
Oh wow, Emelinne used to do this and it even became a problem at school years ago. She finally outgrew it. She had to be made to go and pick everything up. She especially loved throwing things down the stairs. You can imagine the pile of toys down there. She still throws her stuff in her room when she is done with it and if she is on the deck will throw whatever she can put her hands on. I can understand the fun part of it but still. Guest guest
Hi and love back at you Annie. Never heard of halo blankets. Just googled. Couldn't see adult sizes. She has grown like crazy all of a sudden! I don't think she would be hapy in something like a sack as she gets up and jumps around all thru the night. I need to get adult sleepers again and put them on backwards. I haven't had any luck in finding any in her size. Last night I didn't use masking tape to attatch her top to her bottoms. That will teach me! She has been waking up clean and dry so i thought i'd try it. Back to tape tonight. ________________________________ To: Sent: Tue, March 16, 2010 1:54:18 PM Subject: RE: Re: Throwing Things Hi there dear Jay, Thinking of you and praying for you..... Guest guest
 Dear Ducty Doc,  The tv and vcr were duct taped solidly. ( so I thought) She throws dresser and all, thus smashed tv and vcr.   Doctor Ducty, would you prescribe the medicinal use of a duct tape straight jacket from her shoulders to elbow?. This would allow for theraputic dangling but good preventative medicine for gladiator behavior.   Kezia would enjoy hot pink tape.  Thank you.  please also prescribe straight jacket for mom. xxl    Just ducky Jay, your #1 client ________________________________ To: Sent: Tue, March 16, 2010 2:50:45 PM Subject: Re: Re: Throwing Things  Jay, I'm telling you....duct taping the TV and the VCR to the table is the only way to go. Guest guest
Ducky Jay... I marvel at your daughter's superhuman strength... was too weak to accomplish this. Perhaps the new sport of TVpitching will one day be available at the Olympics and she can make this all up to you. In this case...yes I would efinitely rx duct tape from shoulders to elbows. Guest guest
Oh, and for the record, " asks for help with his arms " means that walks over to me, grabs my hand, puts the jammie neck in them, holds my hand up and looks for his sleeve.
