Guest guest
<<she is amazing with sign language and jigsaw puzzles, ............. decided to try Marina on a very low dose (0.25mg) of risperidone due to behavior problems (aggression, hitting, kicking, etc.). I have been very pleased. Her behavior has really improved, she sleeps better at night, and she is even verbalizing more. We see her psychiatrist on the 22nd and I'm am considering upping the dose to .50mg, I figure if .25 is good, .5 may be better.>> Hi, Everyone.....Stacie.....OMGosh.........another puzzle OCDer!!! Another trip down memory lane!!! While others were told their kids were just severely delayed, thus no A dx, Gareth was the opposite. He was very OCD with puzzles and, by age 6, could easily put together 100 piece puzzles. He started a 100 pc Waldo puzzle in front of a DS/ASD doc and her Behav. spec and, right away, I was told he was definitely autistic because a 'normal DS' kid wouldn't be able to do that!!! (Yes, Sara.....HMC!!!) Here, all along, I thought he was just a really smart DS kid!!! As for the Risperdal, if she is doing well on that dosage, I wouldn't raise it. Too much Risperdal can cause just as many behavioral issues as too little. Keep her at that dosage till it doesn't work well, and then, increase it. I am glad the psych doc knew to start her at a low dosage....our kids don't need a lot of it. Did her teeth grinding stop, too?!?!? Jean....welcome to the group. I use to have a list of autistic behaviors for DS kids but can't seem to find it. Perhaps another member has it saved away. My son is Gareth, 21 y/o, with the DS/ASD/OCD dx. Take care, Everyone.
