Hi all,

I spoke with the school psychologist today re a question I had about recent

psych report (visual concern because of something in the report)

I needed this info in case I had to call the ophthalmologist asap. In trying to

get clear picture & full details of what she had observed, I asked if she had

worked with DJ before. She said she was the one who had administered the ADOS

(spelling?)test for autism at end of last school year.

At the time, they told me DJ " did not test out for autism for their purposes " .

With the caveat that this did not mean he might not necessarily be " on the

spectrum somewhere " .

HUH?

Today's conversation, she felt that because DJ engaged with them during testing

or playing ball that he was not autistic. Nor did she note any OCD when I

asked.

Ya'll, I am not kidding when I say that aside from smearing poop or hitting

himself, he is more like your kiddos than any DS kiddo I have met or known.

Do I just take this school report as a given or do I get a second opinion

outside of school?

ly, if DJ is not on the spectrum, I need to know what his problem is & how

to address it all. For his sake & safety.

And may I please stay with this group??

I look back over the past almost 13 years & say then what is it? A DECADE before

we could even take him out to eat or get a haircut or eat another food group,

almost 7 years to get him in the door for my #1 grandchild's birthday

celebration (forget any parties anywhere) & he adores her! Etc. Etc. Etc.

I'm supposed to be relieved. Instead I am confused .

Maybe DJ has been inhabited by pod people from planet X...his whole life.

Kris, who is very confused & sorta spooked now about pod people
