Guest guest
Oh I guess I never really said hello and introduced myself... I am Annie mom of Wesley who was born with DS and who was diagnosed with autism at age 5. My peanut is 10 now and weighs in at 40 pounds....he had heart surgery at 5 months and then again just this past November 10 at age 9. His heart is functioning well and that is a relief and now back to all of the other concerns....it does make you happy just to HAVE your kid and want to hug him and love him a lot... Wesley is very kissable even though he throws things ( glass items etc) and whips off messy diapers wheresoever he pleases....I know his throwing is to get our attention when he wants it NOW....he does not speak and so I know it is very frustrating for him....I homeschooled him up until last year and this year have had him attend a school for chlidren with special needs ...it is unusual in that it is a public school and there are not many that cater just for special needs because of inclusion and all. Meanwhile I was strong for inclusion but as far as revising thinking goes I have had to revise mine and let him go to the special school...he gets to be a cool smart kid in the class and that is good for him... It has turned out to be a nice experience and good for him and gives me time to ...to.....to...those hours sure go by quickly!! I drop him off at 9 and pick him up at 2:45... It is nice to be here.... oh and he has a vicious service dog-in-training who has been wonderful for Wesley...the dog never lays a tooth on Wes...only on me..
