Guest guest
Hi Everyone....Theresa.....first off, be thankful for the reading and comprehension. Secondly, is she with normal peers now, does she have friends, and why only 'life skills' classroom? Just because she can't write doesn't mean she still can't participate in regular classes. Learning support classes are also available in most schools where she will be with normal peers but in smaller classes and more 1:1 studies. That is where the * I * in the IEP comes in!!! She can easily do modified studies........we all know our kids aren't going to graduate in the top % of their classes, for heaven sake!!! I would push to keep her with regular kids if that is where you are pleased with her placement, push for the OT at school since she still needs it (no law says you have to finish by 5th grade), and get a good physical to find out why her muscles aren't getting stronger.....assuming she is doing some exercising. There are also tech boxes that can print and talk for people, answering school questions, etc.......lots of kids with MD use them. Take care, Everyone.
