loves to chew on the little tires for his brothers' Lego cars (before

they're put together).

He doesn't eat chewy things, though. I wish he could!

OMG...don't remind me. used to put these in her mouth and just keep them

there till she started to choke. She also found Mrs. PotatoHead's earrings and

purse very tasty. Thank goodness those days are over...I hope.

my son is the same way. His younger brother (5) has lots of those lego

sets with the wheels, Cole is almost drawn to them. He has eaten a rubber snake

(then pooped it out in one inch sections), gel window decorations, wiggly craft

eyes, nerf darts etc. pretty much anything with that chewey rubbery texture.

He absolutely refuses to eat gummy vitamins, gummy bears, or worms.

My son chews on shoes and I can't make him stop he loves to chew on the shoe

laze also and many other things like Mr. PotatoHead I had to trash it because he

started to chew on the ears and almost choked on it, but thank for the info on

the blood work I am going to ask his pediatrician.

finally stopped chewing and licking shoes now that he is 12. He knew he

wasn't allowed and would hide them when he heard me coming. He even stole a

teenage girl's flip flops from the ground next to her beach chair when we were

in Florida a few years ago and he ran back to his chair with them to lick them.

Thankfully she thought it was funny!

Maddie has pica. In order to have the pica dx, you must ingest said article,

not just mouth and chew. Typically with pica, the person has one or two things

in particular that they obsess on. Maddie's is soap and candles.

likes chewing on crocs, or did a while ago. Come to think of it, I

haven't seen him do that in a while! His everyday shoes right now are Converse

All-Stars, which are THE ONLY shoes he's ever not taken off his feet

immediately. I used to tie the laces round the bottom of his old shoes and he'd

still squirm out of them in 3 seconds, but the Converse are harder. We're

expecting new orthotics soon, so he'll need other shoes. Too bad, because he

really likes the chuck taylors (and doesn't eat them!).

He likes to chew on his coat, though, and the Lego tires, in addition to our

toys that are actually for chewing and, unfortunately, every so often, the dog's

rubber bone (yuck).

But he only chews, no swallowing.
