Guest guest
Hi, Everyone....Amy....coming in late in this but, as you can read, there are many of us that have been in your situation and know/feel your frustrations. I respect Dr Capone, but I don't believe that at the age of 5 y/o Quinn is finished learning. I know that I was told at the age of 6 y/o that there was nothing that could be done for Gareth and that the family needed to be supported. As you know, Gareth went on to school and Lifelink at PSU. Don't give up....just keep trying to tap into his brain/communication. ....do you and live in the burg area? Some one from that area was on the site yrs ago but I haven't seen them post for a long time. .....how old is Mina? Are there options available? Mina, do this first and then you can watch...... Being in their own world is not a bad thing, either, if they are content and you have work to do. We all know that we can't spend 24 hrs a day at their beck and call. Gareth spends most of his day now sitting in a chair, in silence, and smiling/waving to people in his world. If something needs done, he will do it but when his job is finished, he's back in his silent world. Like Sara, he needs yes or no questions. He is on Lexapro or Luvox for his OCD and that does take the edge off a lot of the negative behaviors. Jean....if has already had the swine flu, then he does not need the vaccination. His body is immune and, as far as complications go, the cough can linger for a month BUT if he develops a fever 3-5 days after finishing the flu fever, then that is when the concern for pneumonia should be addressed. Go to message 95683 to read about the latest safety report on the vaccination. Leah.....my Mom commented today on how noticeable the regression is that she sees in Gareth since the last time. It reminded me of what your Mom said this summer. Take care, Everyone. Margaret
