Liz, What is disturbing about this article to me is that the diet has helped

tremendously. used to come home from school everyday and scream for

2-3 hours in pain. After switching to the diet he quit doing this. Mainstream

medicine could not figure out why he was coming home everyday screaming except

to say his hormones have kicked in. Some parents will now not try the diet now

because of what these people wrote and their children may suffer for the rest of

their lives. This is really sad to me and I am sure to the others that this diet

has helped. Cyndi B

Could someone please tell me what " rigorous evidence " there is that *anything*

works for Autism??? aside from ABA perhaps. There doesn't even exist " rigorous

evidence " for the diagnosis of Autism. And if a child with a dx of Autism

improves with a specific diet, don't most experts then conclude the child was

never really Autistic to begin with?

The connection between diet and behavior has been around long before it was

touted for Autism. Look at the Feingold Diet, and Doris Rapp's " Is This Your

Child? "

I have my rigorous evidence and tons of data to prove the connection in our

house. But I'm sure this is a comforting publication for those who don't care to

experiment with dietary intervention, or those for whom it did not work.
