Idon't know if he 'knows' he sees better. BUT on the other side - neither

does seeing better bother him (like hearing better would for example) . He

doesn't seem to notice the contact.

No - he will be asleep. HE takes IV Versed beautifully and can be

anesthetized with it. The procedure only take a few minutes - like my

Interocular lens which took all of 10 minutes.

I will . You might want to think of coming here! Crazy as that seems, we

get a really super surgeon from ATLANTA once a month for surgeries. And the

anesthesiologists are aslo good. And this is with an OD (Optomotrist

running the whole shebang. I am very impressed. Will let you know.

can't handle Versed. It gave him the worst emergence delerium!!

had eye muscle surgery for 4th cranial nerve palsy. Twice, once on each

eye. He was under anesthesia (without Versed) both times. I think he had ear

tubes placed, too, and with the first eye he also had an endoscopy. One-stop

shopping...honestly, the anesthesia is the scariest part, I think!

Check the biographies on these people! And they come to NE GA from ATL so

we don't have to travel that extra 2 hours. And anesthesia is different

for each person - for my son VERSED is great - for others inhaled anesthesia

or some other IV drug will work. We have used VERSED for every surgery Elie

has had since he was 3.

I was actually serious - I have had little but peripheral vision in one eye

ever since I had encephalitis as a 2 yo. Now I have corrected with an

implant 20/40 vision in that eye after 6 months and 20/15 in the other eye

- a scant 3 weeks since surgery.

I will probably still wear glasses because the divergence is still pretty

great AND because I feel naked without my glasses, but I no longer need

glasses as a restrictrion on my drivers license. And I can read most things

wihtout glasses (need it for newprint and knitting patterns. ) NOT THE

'puter!

is still little. I guess we'll be worrying about stuff like that more as

he gets bigger. After his one horrid Versed experience, the anesthesiologist

put on his chart that he's allergic.
