Guest guest
Curious to know where I could find information regarding video streaming public school classrooms. I have a dear friend who has a child that is chronically sick and has a very rare genetic disease. The child will most likely not live many more years but we all keep our chins up and have to live each day like he will grow to be an old adult. He is 12 years old. He misses tons of school. He basically has a disease that causes issues with headaches, vomiting, diarreah, brittle bones, and just all over bad stuff. His mornings are usually pretty intense but he has some afternoon times that are great. The school set up video streaming throughout the classrooms he attends. His previous school (elementary ) did this as well. The problem is, he has to go to school and sit in a classroom by himself in order to participate with the video streaming. He is also required to be there while the class is in session. My question is why can the school not accomodate him by either 1. video taping the class so he could watch them at a later time of day, or allow him to video stream from home in the comforts of his bed. The worst thing for him is to get up get dressed go to school and sit in a classroom by himself. Oh, and he cannot be left alone. His mother has to stay with him because they will not provide a medical aid to be with him. Makes no sense to me. I think the main reason the school does this is because they know the parents do not have the time, energy or money to fight this battle. Plus they are afraid of the retaliation among the school and towns people if they chose to sue the school. Ideas on where to look to get some data. I tried searching wrightslaw but I don't think I am calling it the correct thing. I did not find anything like this that came up. any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.
