Silicone clarification

A few days ago, I posted a note about injectable silicone.  One reader was worried that I had painted too rosy a picture, and because of that, I wanted to clarify what I think about it.I have done medical grade silicone, injected by a dermatologist who's done lots of it, and I think under those conditions, silicone is safe and effective for treatment of lipoatrophy.I am aware that many men in my South Florida region have used unapproved silicone products, injected by untrained people, and I've had the pleasure of discussing this fairly recently with list members who are delighted with their outcomes. Most of these men have had good results, and, as I said in my first note, I have to admit that the best butt restorations that I have seen were done in this setting (though I know of one really bad outcome). I understand why, prior to the availability of safe products, people were tempted to go this route.   I do understand the temptation, and, have felt it.That said, several people every year in North America die from complications of injected silicone at "pumping parties."   Probably many more have reactions to non-medical grade silicone, some are responsive to topical steroids, and others are uncontrolled horrors.  Every few years, someone loses part of their face, ass, tits, or whatever.  This is not acceptable.I am happy that the men in question have had good results.I can't recommend this procedure to anyone.  You don't know what is being injected into your body, or if the person is injecting fat, or your aorta.Do a google search on "silicone reactions."
