Guest guest Posted October 25, 2009 Report Share Posted October 25, 2009 On the question of why a certain child could not get TAMIFLU =-- and so you know for any other child: Yes, Medicaid will pay for Tamiflu if the doctor orders it. However, if the pharmacy tries to make a pediatric strength out of the adult strength, then Medicaid will not pay for it. They will only pay for the manufacture company strength for pediatrics, and that is in very short supply! " Parents need to be told this and that they need to ask the doc to write the order (if it is medically feasible for that child) as the adult strength and then instruct to give the pediatric dose. It comes in 30,45,75 mg tablets. It also comes in a liquid at 45 mg = 3/4 tsp. This is very dangerous for parents/foster parents. The syringe with the med for the liquid is marked in MILLIGRAMS. Doc's have been writing the prescription in teaspoonsful. And they need to be told to try difrferent pharmacies . I was very distressed to find out how very difficult it is to get and how many kids are suffering and spreading their disease!!! -- Sara- different pathways lead to Nirvana.
