Guest guest
Yes I saw it. Truckload of nonsense being spouted by the usual suspect: The unfunny Baron-Cohen. Apparently they will within 5 years have an in utero test for screening for autism, based upon a genetic marker or 'hormones' he said. The debate was about what useful purpose it would have, he said it would be a minefield but he wanted open debate. He said screening and .... (aborting basically) would affect our gene pool negatively since diversity is important and it would be a pity to lose the 'special gifts' that the autism community give to us ordinary mortals. They had a mother on who said she would have wanted to know since it would be better to implement treatment from birth rather than wait for the usual suspects to make as diagnosis after dragging of feet. No mention on environmental factors here! Interestingly, Baron-Cohen did state clearly that autism is a medical condition. The presenters tried to get somebody to say the abort word and invited comments from listeners. I didn't hear any. Maybe it would be good to contact the show and say the main purpose should be to screen out the 1-1:60 who should never have a vaccination!!! Got too much on my plate fighting the evil ones to take it on. To those of you who expressed interest in contributing to the book, my apologies, I have not dropped it I am just fighting Goliath at present, but will get back to it soon.
