Guest guest
I think you may well be right stephanie, I've mentioned yeast to the mum and am going to give her some Candex to trial. He may well be better on Oxypowder - Oxypowder doesn't suit one of my sons at all but the other is fine on it. I agree he also needs a higher dose to get anywhere as they are seeing little results. Also agree re Movicol that is' not so good - I must find an alternative for my son as he's on a high dose. sharon x Re: movicol - adverse reaction or die off? not much help but when we do a clear out we don't get die off, we get yeast. which we then attack. might it be yeast flare up? (which makes Tom giggly not nauseous so sounds unlikely). Might be better on oxypowder? they do say it's not recommended for a leaky gut don't they? I'm not sure it is as bland and safe a product as your GP would have you think. Also if he is loaded, it'll take a while to clear on 2 sachets a day - or perhaps I'm just judging by DS's standards. :-) > > Hi everyone and Happy Mother's Day! Hope you all have?special day and have some treats. > > I'm posting on behalf of a friend whose 6 year old son has just been diagnosed with IBS and has been prescribed Movicol.? His mum feels he is also loaded. He was in nappies until 5 years old but was toilet trained in 3 days when she took out apple juice and gave him a probiotic. He started on two sachets of Movicol last Sunday and by Wednesday had to come home from school suffering from dizziness and nausea (side effects of Movicol according to the info provided with it) and a high temperature and saying he was seeing colours.? He was fine the next day but came down again with another high temperature on Friday.? Is this die off from toxins and gut bugs being stirred up or an adverse reaction to Movicol? - does anyone have experience of a similar effect?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.? My son takes Movicol but we have never had this kind of reaction so I'm not sure what to advise her to do . > > many thanx > > sharon x > The Average US Credit Score is 692. Guest guest
Thanks for that link Nikki - its sobering stuff. Would be really interested in your info on how oxalate crystals can affect the eyes if you do find it. sharon x Re: movicol - adverse reaction or die off? Hi Sharon, my ds has had a bad reaction to Movicol. He is one of these kids that has problems with oxalates in his body and when he was given movicol he metabolised it in the gut into oxalate crystals, which then moved through the body causing pain and inflammation elsewhere which as is usual with our kids manifested itself as adverse behavioural symptoms. It took me quite a while to get him recovered from this. I'm not sure if this is what is happening in your friends childs, just wanted to warn you it may be a possibility, particularly as he has IBS and possibly a leaky gut which allows oxalates to enter the body more rapidly. I'm sure i have seen somewhere that oxalate crystals can affect the eyes, i will try and find a reference for this and post it if i do. In the mean time, i just wanted to post this for everyone as a warning about Movicol, it is a US page so Movicol is called Miralax over there, but it is exactly the same stuff! http://www.danasview.net/miralax.htm Nikki x In Autism-Biomedical-Europe , STRUIC1@... wrote: > > Hi everyone and Happy Mother's Day!
