Guest guest
I put my sons pills in applesauce whole, and let them in there for a long time refrigerated before it is time for him to take them. When he is ready to take them they are completely soft, yet they stay in their original form. He swallows the applesauce and the pill goes down very easily, because everything is soft like the applesauce. I also tried the crush method and that permeated all of the applesauce. The whole soft way doesn't seem to give any taste. Hope this helps. ________________________________ To: Sent: Saturday, August 15, 2009 11:21:33 AM Subject: Re: Tricks to get our kids to take medication I was thinking this morning about covering a pill with chocolate like a chocolate covered peanut. My daughter is the same way. If you do something she's gonna remember the next time. Such a great memory she has! > > Does anyone have any great ideas on how to get our kids to take their meds, when they don't have the oral motor skills to swallow a pill? > > So far, the way that works best for me is to grind up the pill and give it to her in a small spoon full of chocolate pudding. However, I did that once with a medication that tasted bad, and now she isn't buying that trick. > > Thanks for any insight that you have. > > >
