Guest guest
Hi all, Just wanted to share something good for once with you all. I took my son Tommy to Universal Studios in Orlando, Fl. He is 4 and has autism. I was afraid that he wouldn't do well at all and it would be a waste of time. But he suprised me! We rented a stroller for him-amazingly he fit, but you can't take the stroller into any of the rides or shows so I was hesitant. I forgot to bring his paper for the handicap pass. But, it didn't matter. He rode the " Back to the Future Ride " . He waited in line for 1/2 an hour to get on and he was not disappointed because it was a ride in a car. He squealed with delight the whole ride. I however almost puked! LOL He was very impressed with the escalators and we had to " ride " those for a while. He got scared every time he jumped on it, but then laughed because he liked scaring himself. It was hysterical. We took him to see " Barney " . He waited another 1/2 hour. The whole time he is yelling " Barney, where are you? Are you hiding? " He was so loud and everyone looked at us, but I thought it was so cute. And I was impressed with the sentences. He sat on a bench for the show with other kids and he stood up and sang all the songs (clearly) and danced too. He never once tried to leave me. He was so loud Barney actually talked to him during the show and touched him. Tommy gave him a big hug and was so proud that he was picked out of the crowd. So what if Barney was just trying to shut him up? LOL Tommy didn't know that and was so excited. He has not stopped talking about Barney since. Now, he wants to watch Barney on the TV all the time too. I was getting kinduv tired of Dora and Blue anyway. It was a great day and I am so happy to find out that Tommy can wait for things, if he really wants it. His speech was great and no running away, made the day perfect. I've haven't smiled that much in a long time. Sorry to ramble so long, but I've never had such a good time with Tommy before and I wanted to share it. Ginnene P.S. School starts tommorrow for Tommy. Hooray! And I'm picking Kimmy up from her school for a three day stay. After she sees the ENT about her tonsils.
