Guest guest
Hi I am currently contemplating the idea of approaching a company that makes software for people with disabilites to make a website or software that could assist teachers and teacher aides at school to be working on the most important things for our children. My thought is that as my daughter (Sophie) is mainstreamed she has the advantage of being with more abled children but dosen't get a trained special ed teacher and therefore the work she is doing is modified work that the mainstream children are doing. While this is good, I would rather her be developing all the things that are going to be most helpful for her. If she had her own laptop that her aide could access that other professionals had developed this would really get things going. For example, if we were wanting Sophie to be working on her social skills (which I think is much more important than cutting a straight line) then the aide could look at the website/software for current ideas and then implement them in the classroom. I would appreciate your thoughts on this idea and what you think are the most important things for our children to be focusing on. I realise there will be a huge variety of skills at differing levels needed but don't think this should be a problem. To get you started........... Social skills eg please, thankyou, I would like, turn taking, reading emotions Physical skills eg toileting, eating, holding pencils, throwing balls Thanks Geraldine
