Guest guest
Hi fellow Stilligans, Sorry so many of you are feeling so much pain. You might be more effective as a subject for this study than I am right now. Although I reduced my Pred. from 2 mg to 1 mg last Thurs., I am in relatively little pain, and therefor am not necessarily a good subject for this study (titled " Momentary Assessment of Pain " ). Any which way, yesterday I went for the 2nd of 4 meetings. We were randomized into 4 groups and I am in one of the ones that got to take home a modified palm pilot (computer). It will go off anywhere from 3 to 12 times a day. At that time you answer questions about what you are doing, your mood and pain status. If you are in pain it goes on to ask about the amount and type. The entries take no more that 2 minutes. When you go to sleep, you have to put ED (that's what they call the Palm Pilot. I forgot what it stands for) to bed and put him in his cradle (recharge it). I wanted to know if I have to sing him a lullaby too!!LOL!! You set a wake up time, and an alarm will wake you if you haven't already shut it off. There is also a setting for a nap, and another one for suspending it when you can't deal with it (like when I was in the pool last night) or if you are in a meeting or at a concert. So far ED has called for me almost every hour (although it is random) when he is active. I think I am in the 12 hour group. The team leader will call me later this morning for a follow up and I will see if I can confirm this. By the way I found out there are about 10 other groups, as there are 100 people in the study. There are more women than men, but not an overwhelming preponderance. Take care everyone and try to stay pain free. Ann K
