Hi Dianna,I am so glad to hear how well Marcela is doing. I do want to share with you our experience with Ian, not to scare you, but to arm you with all the info out there in making your decision regarding the bracing. Ian was down to about 5 degrees when we stopped casting and he went into his brace. We stopped bracing after only after 8 weeks. He actually achieved even more correction out of his brace and got down to 0 degrees so we relaxed our guard and didn't have him x-rayed for about a year. When Noelle was diagnosed, we decided to do a current set of films for Ian and discovered his scoliosis has returned. He was around 10 degrees with the rotation returning as well. He's now back into a night time

brace. If I had the opportunity to do it all over, I would have endured the year of bracing. No matter what you end up doing, I hope she continues to do well! Good luck with everything. Noelle (12-2-01)Ian (8-15-04) From: diannapiquet

Hi All! Just wanted to update you on my little Marci and ask for some good vibes/energy/ prayers. Marci had her 3rd cast removed on Thursday because she has apparently achieved all the correction she can out of her casts (she currently has no detectible curve). Instead of bracing right away, her doc wants to monitor her out of a cast for 6 weeks, as he thinks her spine will hold and that bracing may not necessarily be a requirement for her. My husband and I were very nervous at first, but have since decided to trust in our doc-AND GOD-and leave Marci cast free for 6 weeks. I've been worrying and stressing about her little back since this all began, her condition has literally rocked my world for the last year, so right now I'm taking a break from the worry and enjoying my cast free baby. Actually removing the cast was a bit traumatic since she was awake and SCREAMING the entire time. Also, I wasnt quite prepared for her not being able to control

the top part of her body--she was literally a noodle for about an hour until she learned to stand and walk again.

Apart from that, our experience through all of this has been a blessing. , ISOP, ish Rite, and the friends I have made here--all have changed my family's life. Please keep Marcela in your prayers and send her little back some strength to hold that nasty curve at bay, FOREVER!

P.S. I posted a pic of Marci at home and cast free..she is definitely loving it(:

Dianna (mommy to Marcela, 20 mos. currently cast free after 3 casts)
