Guest guest
Welcome to several of the members aboard. I have not really read all the post but have noticed several from out in the IL community. You may hear from one our veteran members Louise who lives out there in IL, parent of who is about 46 y/o with the dual dx's of DS & AU. Thanks to Louise, who has introduce me to a wonderful person/advocate Barbara Doyle who has assisted but advocates within the IL area. When you have some time, highly recommend her book who she co-authored with her sister Doyle Iland who is also a parent, advocates for professionals, families, and children. Check out Barbara's site. http://www.barbaradoyle.com/ http://www.barbaradoyle.com/handouts.html http://www.barbaradoyle.com/events.html I have also had the opportunity to meet Louise when I am out in Chicago attending the Autism One conference annually in the month of May, which I highly recommend where you will find a variety of valuable information. There are also exhibitors from numerous places throughout nationwide but have also notice from the IL areas will it will be nice to network with. Even if you do not attend the conference, stop by and gather what you can throughout the entire hotel for future reference. Autism Society of Illinois, here are the support groups resource list. http://autismillinois.org/supportgroups.aspx Parents Resources Check out the newsletter - http://autismillinois.org/downloads.aspx Just wanted to share this your way and see if it will help anyone. Oh and when interested on any special diet such as GF/CF diet, when out and about in Chicago, we also enjoy the restaurants that serve GF/CF food items. Need some resource information, highly recommend stay in contact with Sueson Vess, she is just awesome.
