Guest guest
HI! My son Connor has been on the GFCF diet since May. It is not as hard or as overwhelming as it seems and we have seen huge changes in Connor. He went from being nonverbal and crying most of the time to laughing, happy, making eye contact and socializing. He is now saying words and has twice as many signs as before his regression. His dev. ped didn't think gluten was a problem so we tried some melatonin that had caramel coloring in it. Wow, was that a mistake. Within three weeks, we were seeing regression, crying, general crankiness and in increase in stimming and aggression. A week after starting melatonin that was GFCF we are back to the happy Connor and I will never experiment again. It is not worth it. Some great books to get you started are Special Diets for Special Kids and Special Diets for Special Kids II by . I like the second one because it has great recipes and explains how to convert many of your families favorite recipes to GFCF. The first book explains why Gluten and Casein affect our kids the way it does. Also, try searching on this list for GFCF recipes. I know a bunch of us have posted some of our favorites.
