If you do not mind me asking. Was it like the Nystatin? Normally an antibiotic is prescribed and those who specialize most within would prescribe probiotics taken with it. It is true, most of the time in the beginning it is stirring up the gut bugs which are some of the side effects which occurs but it all depends on the individual. My son has been given both at the same time but also recommended were like Capricin or Activated Charcoal which helps with the antifiungal. The Activated Charcoal is an OTC but see if your doctor would allow recommend some type of a probiotic, since he is being monitored by a GI doc. See what doc says first on his recommendation of a probiotic before mentioning any of these products. Description of Capricin Capricin provides nutritional support to Enhance balance the intestinal flora by assisting in the maintenance of internal candida stasis.Diets high in refined carbohydrates and highly processed foods. The use of full - spectrum antibiotics. The use of hormonal contraceptives. The use of corticosteroids. Activated Charcoal Description From Indian Hardwood. Natural Internal Adsorbent For Dietary By-products And Gas. Activated charcoal is one of the finest natural adsorbent agents known. Each particle contains many small chambers and cavities that capture or bind up unwanted materials and gas. The charcoal then carries it safely through the system. Nature's Way uses only the highest quality activated charcoal. This product is 100% natural. Irma,20,DS/ASD

No dairy or vitamins while under this treatment, hope doc mentioned this. Wishing well during his recovering time. Glad in a way that the doc found the viral bug in his gut tract, normally this is not found. Hopefully this will decrease a lot of inflammation which triggers off some of the behavioral issues and other issues when discomfort is going on, this is that domino affect: gut & brain issues. Let's see how does after his treatments. Fingers crossed and hope you share down road how is doing. When do y'all go back? Have there been any behavior issues that has been displaying? How old is ? WHEN you have a chance, glance at some of the presentation presented in regards to dealing with the gut issues. Guest guest
Yes, had severe gut issues. He used to come home everyday and scream for 2-4 hours because his belly hurt. Of course at the time I did not know that this was wrong with him. But after going to a DAN doc that tested for bad gut bugs this was found. She did Difulcan, probiotics, and what she calls the anti fungal parade which is a mixture of anti fungus etc. We put on gluten free/casein free and limit his sugar intake because yeast feeds on sugar and makes the gut bugs worst. The probiotics help to put the good bacteria in his system.Sounds to me like you are on the right track. no longers comes home from school screaming and creaming and fighting made. He is a happy camper. One thing that showed me stomach problems is used to constantly bend his stomach over furniture and now he does that rarely. Most of the time if he does this I know he needs to go potty. Getting the scope first like you did is recommended before changing the diet as the Dr.'s have said otherwise they cannot tell if there was any problems. To your question about an antibiotic to kill stomach bacteria this his Dr. did not do because she said he had had way to many antibiotics in his lifetime as it was.Now that does not mean that in your childs case he should not be on them. Each child is different but if your are questioning that try a different gastroenerologist. Guest guest
Irma, I agree with you on this. Exactly what I thought that the Doc was not interested in behavioral issues. When this resolved with so did all of the screaming for 2-4 hours. Cyndi B Yes, when one suffers from gut issues, one can not function due to many reasons. displayed numerous behavioral issues which decreased once we enter this treatment of healing his gut issues which is still in progress along with his autoimmune system. Sensory Integration Issues and Gut Reactions http://www.enzymestuff.com/rtsensorygut.htm Slide 20: Historical Brain/GI Connections - Down syndrome - Gastroesophageal reflux - Cornelia DeLange Syndrome - ? He went through the next slides kind of quickly without elaborating much on them.] Slide 21: Down Syndrome - Chromosomal abnormality - Known abnormalities structurally in the brain - Knwn association with autism (~8%) of down syndrome children have autism - Known association with GI problems (~30%) with gastroesophageal reflux There is just so much of the unknown. All I know in 's case this is our journey which has helped him tremendously, not 100 % but whole better than what we have gone through.
