Hi everyone.... .I hope you all are well and staying warm.Most of you know is in a brace at night only now. From time to time we have some issues with him wearing it. Nothing major yet, but enough questions are ask to break my heart. Yesterday morning I was taking his brace off and we were discussing when the boys would sleep WITHOUT a pull-up at night(BTW does this ever happen?). quickly said, "And I can go without my brace too!" I told him no he would still have to wear it. With a serious, defeated look on his face he says, "Mommy when will they let me keep it off?" I sank to the floor. It hit me so hard.......just like it always does.BUT quickly in a very upbeat voice I told him not yet and went on telling him about other kids that wear a brace.Now this

is where the BRACE KIDS come into the story. I had an idea to make a book with pictures of other children in a brace.IF you are willing to share a picture of your child in their brace I would love to have it. I plan to print them out and go have the pages laminated and make a book........ Thanks Joan. The best thing right now is that he does not carry on about it for very long. He is usually content with my answers. I take it much harder than he does. I just hope this little book will help when he is thinking he is the only one.BTW-how is Hayden? Poor little guy. Back at the doctor again. Hope he feels better soon. What a great idea Tasha. I show Hayden pictures of the Cast kids from time to time so he knows that he isn't alone in his journey. Poor , he is so smart and perceptive. I know it must be hard for him. I guess I would explain to him that the brace is saving his spine ( I am sure you do already). Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way, even though Hayden is not in a brace yet.

Tasha, your book sounds like such a great idea! I hope it all goes well!               

 

Hang in there Tasha... they will get there!  Hopefully, they won't do what one of my brothers did... wet the bed until he was 7.

Thanks Patty.The boys will be FIVE in April.  Isn't it time?!  I have a pretty good water-proof mattress pad, but want to get something else to go under that before I go to underwear at night.  I guess all I can do is try.

Tasha,That's an awesome idea for him to see that there are other kids out there like him.  I know Isabella is in for a long journey and I'm not looking forward to the days when she starts voicing her opinion about her cast.  As for the pull-ups, they all progress at their own time.  My boys stopped wearing them by 4 but would have an accident once in a while.  I always have a mattress protector on for accidents (or puke).
