Guest guest
Good news Amy. Sleep obviously isn't a luxury; it's crucial to growth, peace, and health. Way to go Connor. Guest guest
I was looking for liquid Melatonin, but couldn't find it at the chain drugstores. Maybe I'll have to try an independent pharmacy. I bought the tablets, but I have to crush them to give them to the kids, so I haven't tried it yet. Guest guest
Hi Amy, I am glad that you found a solution. There is nothing worse than being sleep deprived. Normally afternoon naps tend to fade out at Connor's age so no big loss. Charlyne Subject: yay for Connor/melatonin To: Date: Saturday, January 24, 2009, 1:08 PM I have to say that I relucantly tried melatonin. I didn't like the idea of giving Connor something just so we could sleep but I just finally couldn't take anymore. Connor wasn't going to sleep until about 10:30 or 11, would wake up around 1-3 stay awake for a few hours and then would be awake for the day between 5-6. Our days were nightmares because he was so exhausted he was melting down all the time. Our pediatrician recommended trying the melatonin. He suggested 1-4 ml, to adjust the dose as needed. We tried 1 ml, no good. 2 ml seems to be the perfect amount. We give it to him 20 minutes before bedtime and he goes right to sleep with added bonus of being snuggly before bedtime. He then sleeps ALL NIGHT and doesn't wake up until 6:30 to 7. The down side is he doesn't take a nap everyday but that is a fair tradeoff for everyone in the house getting a full night's sleep! I found some liquid sublingual on amazon.com that is gfcf. Brand name Source Naturals. I got 2 bottles of 4 fl. oz. for around $20. Guest guest
?+JMJ+ I am going to give melatonin another try tonight.? Gosh I hope she does not have another all nighter.? They were fun in college but I am too old for that now! LOL. Two nights ago I gave her 2 mg and she was up all night.? Last night I gave her 3 mg and she was back to her normal, waking up all night, crawling all over me but ok as long as I rocked and patted her. It is like she is trying to crawl out of her skin....just uncomfortable. ? Tonight I will try 3 mg again....maybe I will get 2 hours out of her!!!!!!!!!? Pray, pray, pray. Guest guest
I use melatonin & have experimented with dosing also. try using less rather than a full dose. Try 1 mg. & see if that helps. and gradually work up the dose if you feel it is needed as the body adjusts to it. Sometimes a sleep aid of any kind, even cough meds & the such, can cause restlessness & sleeplessness rather than the intended relxation & restful sleep. Guest guest
We use slow release for an even sleep throughout the night and it is only a 2mg tablet. Talk about restless. If I take antihistamines I get restless legs and I am up all night. Execedrine PM does the same thing to my legs and nose sprays. We I take Fish oil it makes my legs restless because it causes changes in blood flow to the brain.
