Guest guest
Arthritis Today Magazine ..November/December 200l issue ..page27 Remember how " john " kept after us to " just try " Minocycline??? Here's a quote from the magazine mentioned above: bad news: Another tetacycline antibiotic, minocycline (which is commonly used to treat acne and sometimes RA), may cause a lupus-like condition in some people. In a recent study, ish doctors identified 20 patients who, after taking minocycline an average of 25 months, developed a condition characterized by joint pain, lethargy, fever, abdominal pain, Raynaud's phenomenon and a butterfly rash. good news: In the same study, discontinuing the antibiotic led to a resolution of lupus in all 20 patients. None of the patients had kidney involvement, which is common in lupus. So, folks...long term Minocycline may not be so harmless after all!
