Guest guest
Hi, Everyone....Ali.....Gareth use to sit and pop his hips in and out while watching TV. At age 15, he needed hip surgery on the right side because he had eroded all his hip socket away. I would try to find a way to prevent it so that you don't have to go through that surgery down the road. He always complains that his knees/legs hurt after exercising, etc. and wears knee braces. His knee caps slide back and forth very easily. The looseness is from the DS but the lack of pain is from the autism. I was told when they found his hip socket gone that a normal person would have been in a wheel chair unable to walk. Take care, Everyone. Margaret **************Get the Moviefone Toolbar. Guest guest
My main concern is the damage she might be doing and not so much the noise of it driving me nuts. I'm afraid she's going to wear out her knee cap or cause arthritis and end up in a wheel chair or need surgery. I think I may call ortho again and see what they say. Thanks Ali mfroof@... wrote: Hi, Everyone....Ali.....Gareth use to sit and pop his hips in and out while watching TV. Guest guest
Margaret - you are so sweet to offer to mail that to me. I am in Canada though so it would take awhile to get her plus cost extra $$$$ but thank you for the offer. I'll pick up some while I'm out tomorrow. They tried Amy on risperdal last December and she had seizures while on it. They aren't 100% sure if it was the risperdal as she also became really ill at the same time but they don't want to take chances by putting her back on it. Sounds like it would be worth trying again if she was ever in hospital and could monitored closely when they start it. I gave her some tylenol this morning at 10 am and then 12 pm I gave her some motrin and she seems pretty happy right now. Head banging has decreased (not stopped completely) so I definitely think something is bugging her. I will see what happens when the motrin wears off. I am to call her pediatrician tomorrow to report in on how things are going and she said she could squeeze her in for an app't if needed. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we figure this one out before the holidays. Many parents have reported that their kids start communicating after starting Risperdal.....unfortunately, it isn't all kids. I have two bottles of Nature Made Super B-Complex with Vit C and Folic acid. I bought a 2 pack, opened one bottle for Gareth, and then, stopped giving it to him. I will gladly mail them to you or anyone else if you think it will help. Take care, Everyone.
