Please can anyone advise me asap. Our school seems to be in the process of

trying to transfer our son to another school without telling us about it. They

seem to be trying to take him on a visit so that they can present it as all sewn

up before the Annual review at the beginning of June. We have been told nothing

at all of this by sch. only by our son in broken phrases. His anxiety is

skyrocketing, the voices in his head are getting worse which makes it harder to

unpick what he is actually being told and he is now developing a stammer on top

of his severe language issues. Can anyone give me chapter and verse on the

formal procedure when a sch wants to get rid of difficult parents and whether

they are entitled to start this ball rolling without consulting us. Also if they

try to change the name of the sch presumably that means they can change other

parts of the Statement too? Where would be the best place to go for formal

advice asap - initially free but we would pay if we had to? Thanks for any info.

Dr Male provided a psychiatric report for our Tribunal. He is a retired

Consultant Paediatric Psychiatrist. He thought it likely Henry would need

residential schooling. He also recommended a referral to the local CAMHS and

mentioned Henry might benefit from drug treatment. We did not follow up on this

aspect of his report. It depends on why you want the assessment and report: is

it for diagnosis and recommendations for treatment? I am not sure what sort of

work he does now - we saw him 3 years ago. He is very kind and a gentleman.

Apparently there are very few paediatric psychiatrists who can do the

assessments and write reports for Tribunal.

I suppose it depends on whether you want your child out of the school or you

want the school to provide for his needs better. I personally should be very

wary of Henry going to a psychiatrist because I guess when it comes to treatment

they only have one weapon in their armoury and that's drugs. However, I would be

much more open to seeing a clinical psychologist who specialises in autism.

> Thanks Mandi, Sally and everyone who replied. I think I heard at the SOS SEN

workshop last week that Fisher Meredith are not taking any new cases at the

mo? I was also wondering has anyone used an Educational Psychiatrist - I've been

recommended Dr Male near Guildford. I don't know what he's like or if he

would inevitably suggest medicating for anxiety. Just don't want to pour money

down the drain. Thanks for all your support.
