Guest guest
The pistchios have probably been dry roasted. That kills the germ and they won't grow. ew Can you sprout Pistachio and Pumpkin Seeds? Probably a dumb question but I was in the supermarket today and they had Salted Pistachio and Unsalted Pistachio. And the first thing that came to my mind is " well, if I can sprout Sunflower seeds, why not the other kinds of seeds? " Anyone ever try this? Thanks much Melody
Guest guest
I figured that but I was wondering if, like Black oil Sunflower seeds, they ever made a black oil or ANY KIND of organic pistachio or pumpkin seed. Guest guest
It's true. No human hands have touched them. I pour them into the mason jar to soak, and then I pour them into my trays to sprout..and then, when transferring to a ziplock bag, I invert the ziplock bag and grab them and put them in. This is when I don't de-hull them. Of course if I am dehulling them, I'm grabbing handfuls and putting them in a colander to drain. And I am not from earth. I am from the planet SPROUTVILLE!!! lol Melody > > > > How do you know when your sprouts are done? I am new to sprouting. Started them Sunday (a tablespoon or so of each seed or bean type with twice as much water (to cover each) to germinate and then the rinsing (about every 12 hours) and shaking excess water out. Sprout chart says seven days for alfalfa but it looked " done tonight " . Do you go by taste to tell if a particular sprout is " done " and ready for storage in the fridge? > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
In agriculture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture and gardening http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardening , *mulch* http://cougar.eb.com/soundc11/m/mulch001.wav is a protective cover placed over the soil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soil to retain moisture, reduce erosion, provide nutrients, and suppress weed growth and seed germination. Mulching in gardens and landscaping http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landscaping mimics the leaf cover that is found on forest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest floors. Guest guest
Thanks very much EW. I also found this on youtube. And as soon as I saw the slug on the leaf I said " This is NOT for me " . lol. But it's cool to learn. I'm clicking on the links you provided and will continue to be your best student. And guess what your best student did today? My landlord came in to turn off the thermostat and when she saw my Home Garden, she did a big OMG!!! and I walked her over to my shelves and there was ooohing and aaahing and she had NEVER seen anything like it. She knew I sprouted (long time ago in jars) and she thought I still did that. She could not get over my pea shoots. Well, when I showed her my sprout garden which I keep to the right of the shelves and I showed her my fenugreek and I had 7 trays going and she said OMG, you sprout in this little space?? And then I explained the difference between sprouting and microgreening and the sun and well, I gave a sprout lesson. For 20 minutes or longer. And guess what she went back home with? I gave her some pea seeds and she's going to grow them in a pot of soil. And I gave her one of my little chia trays and she's going to grow Chia. Hey, never mind New York, I'm going to change Brooklyn. lol Melody > > > > Do they speak Mulch on your planet? > > > > > > >
