Guest guest
What about KidsPeace????? They are nationwide...and Tori receives her BHRS from there. EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED Nationwide search for HOSPITAL possibility for evaluation and drug adjustment for adult male, 26yo with ASD and explosive behavior disorder (possible bi-polar??) . Insurance is NOT the issue - finding a place is. Family willing to go where ever necessary. But North GA is location of family. Kennedy-Krieger is out - no adult program. MUST BE IN PATIENT at this point. -- Sara - Life is a journey- we choose the path.
Guest guest
Does Kidspeace take ADULTS?? This young man was asphyxiated at birth and after 5 minutes, resusitated. Left with MR, and now ASD and delayed adolescence and explosive behavior. Mom has a brain tumor (inoperable) and cannot cope with him. He kicks osut doors and walls and has kicked and knocked his mother down. Today he hit his personal support person in the head while she was driving! Father out of home - no help. > What about KidsPeace????? Guest guest
Will let you know. This is a crisis and our state is FAILING. There is no safe place for an ADULT with MR and psych issues to get inpatient help here at this time. Our one open institution has a record like BEDLAM of old. > > > > > Never heard of it before now, but will check it out. Here in Texas it is huge with the Sovereign Immunity, that several of us throughout Texas have come together joining a new group call Community Now. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Community_Now/ Irma,19,DS/ASD

Took out a whole wall yesterday - just kept kicking it. But at least it wasn't people. > > > > > Will let you know. Took out a whole wall yesterday - just kept kicking it. But at least it wasn't people. Prayers that mom finds a place soon. Out in FL, there is also that institution that I had once asked Sherry about if she had ever heard of it. Supposedly they address every area including individuals who have some pretty severe behavioral issues. It was called something like Tacachale. I had also heard one of the interviews that Dr. Holmes spoke to on the Autism One conference from South Dakota. This was like the March or April interview with Dr. Vickie Isler (sp?) who worked with many individuals at a behavior school, she is the program director at some Children's hospital but work with the adults. There was another interview with a Dr. June Growdan (sp?) out in Rhode Island who also discussed about dealing with adults with severe and autism and behavior challenges. Dr. Holmes interviews someone from varies states when addressing about adult issues. The left arrow will take you from the previous months, then click like on the 3rd Friday every month about the same time. 1:00 pm - 1:30 ET Dr. Holmes Adults on the Autism Spectrum Today! http://www.autismone.org/radio/?radio=schedule & archive He is one of the co-author of Rehabilitation of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. http://www.autism-info.org/2007_employment_ & _ASD_report.pdf Irma
